An Historical Day

Today is a day that we'll always remember. January 20, 2009 is the day that our first black President was inaugurated. To be honest, I never gave it much thought until today. I do not consider myself politically minded at all. I get so tired listening to the parties fight over who is right... But, that's not what I'm writing about today. This is a huge day for the black community. They are celebrating everywhere! Even in Kenya, they are dancing in the streets because that's where Obama's father is from. What a big day for blacks all over. And, I for one, am happy for them. They have been an oppressed people for a very long time and they many have fought like crazy to bring them out of such horrible conditions. They have been mistreated for way too long and it's good to see such a huge milestone reached in our lifetime.

I never really thought of Obama as black. Throughout his entire campaign, I thought of him as a Democrat. I don't vote Democrat because I am pro-life. That is why I don't vote Democrat. See, I told you that I'm not very political. That being said, I think that the best man won and he is the best man (at this time) for the job (regardless of color). He represents change. He has some great ideas and I pray like heck that change will happen. I'm not so dumb as to think that one man can change a nation, but I do believe that he can surround himself with the right people so that change can begin to take place.

I do have one major concern with Obama as president, though. It has nothing to do with color, political party of beliefs. It has to do with the love affair the nation has with him. I feel like many people believe that he is our nation's saviour. That, he is going to turn everything around and make it all good. I hear people talk about how things are going to be great now that he is President. Don't get me wrong, I'm praying for big things from him, too. But, we have to remember that, he is human. He is not God. He is not our Saviour. He is not superhuman. He is a man. We have to remember that. It's OK to expect change and to look for good things with the changing of the President's, but we have to remember that he can't do it all. And, he can't do it overnight.

We need to pray for our new President. We need to pray that God's will is done while he is President and that our President will listen to Him.

It seems as though Obama looks to both sides (Democrats & Republicans for ideas. Hope his is truly a mindset of cumulus ideas in dealing with our economy. There are times that he will have to make decisions on his own. I hope and pray that he makes the correct ones when these times confront him. Not every situation requires a consensus from Congress. That is why there is a separation between the two. Obama will have to cut that umbilical cord at some point. Hopefully he does it slowly since he is very inexperienced. I don’t say “inexperienced” as a negative statement, just a fact.

The word “change” means nothing unless it is associated with an outcome. Change could have a negative or a positive connotation. Without Obama explaining what he means by change, and he cannot associate it with an outcome, I can only “wait and see” or assume he will fall along the lines of his party. I hope my assumptions are wrong.

Obama’s mindset aside, I have little faith in a majority of politicians whose jobs pay a small percent of income annually, compared to the number of dollars spent on their elections. They are either looking for power, or some type of kickback from somewhere. Neither lends itself to a genuine person in most cases. Thus, corruption and inefficiency ensues. Sounds like money disappears, and no one knows where it goes. Sounds familiar?!? Accountability???

Our media has too much influence from people like Ted Turner. A faith based politician like George Bush in my opinion is more genuine. It is unfortunate that our media would not allow him a fair shake and had to paint him as such an inadequate president. Everyone is always saying that people (Democrats) hated him after the 2000 election because they thought he cheated the system to get elected. That is really just a side note. He was a Republican with a stated belief in God. Our mainly atheist owned media does not stand behind truth like a man that believes in a Christian God. It is very unfortunate that our media is influencing the opinions of so much of the American and World population.

Ted Turner is a self proclaimed atheist and opposes the beliefs of Christians. Ted Turner is owner of Turner Broadcasting CNN, TBS, Turner Network Television, Cartoon, (be careful what you kids are watching) Network, Adult Swim, Boomerang, NBA TV, TruTV, Turner Classic Movies AOL, New Line Cinema, Time Inc., Time Warner Cable, HBO, Turner Broadcasting System, The CW Television Network, TheWB.com, UBU Productions, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Kids' WB, The CW4Kids, Cartoon Network, DC Comics, and Mohawk Productions.

Ted also controls Time Inc. and Time Warner which covers most every print magazine in publication. Time Magazine and other magazines include Sports Illustrated, Fortune, People, Essence, This Old House, All You and Entertainment Weekly. It also owns the UK magazine house IPC Media, whose major titles include What's On TV, NME, Country Life, Marie Claire and Nuts. Go to maghound.com and see how many print media magazines that Ted influences. He also owns AOL and many online media outlets that oppose Christian beliefs and oppose Republican values. Ted is just one of many athiests that that control many media outlets that we rely on for news and information. Mark Cubun, Oprah, and even Steven Spielberg are the up and cuming Anti-Christian media moguls. Good new, if you find yourslef shocked, you have other choices. Most informed readers recognize the liberal slant and discrediting Christian views woven into many articles, shows, and news. Many, unfortunately, take as fact and/or truth.
